22 of Gippsland Power's top-age players returned home last night from a six day high altitude camp at Mt Hotham and Omeo.
Coach Nick Stevens took them through some tough hikes and boxing sessions as they prepare for the 2012 season.
"They get a benefit from training at high altitude; it makes it a lot harder to work and a lot harder to breathe, which makes it more efficient when they get back down the mountain.
"They've been tremendous, the way they've attacked it. There's not doubt it's been pretty tough at times. Some of the sessions I've done are probably as equal to AFL level."

A crowd just short of 3,000 came out yesterday to see national soccer return to the Latrobe Valley.
Melbourne Heart played its third game at Latrobe City Stadium and its first game for A League premiership points, defeating Wellington Phoenix 1-0.
Mate Dugandzic scored the winning goal for Heart four minutes before half-time, netting on the rebound after Rutger Worm's shot hit the post.
Coach John van't Schip said it wasn't Heart's best game but was happy to take the three points.
"We want to keep the ball longer, play more possession. At the moment that's something we're talking about, working on a lot. The games are going too much up and down.
"On the other hand I think in the discipline I think we did very well. We worked defensively, I think at the end the three points were very important."
Heart CEO Scott Munn hailed the day a success.
"I thought it was a fantastic day and the city council did a magnificent job, the volunteers from all around Gippsland Soccer League did an unbelieveable job, and I'd like to say our players then held on and did the best job of all and got us the three points to move us into the six."

The Latrobe City Sports and Entertainment Stadium is being prepared to host its first Hyundai A-League game on Sunday, when Melbourne Heart returns to take on Wellington Phoenix.
Tickets are still available online at Ticket Direct for the 3pm game. Heart CEO Scott Munn says they’re confident they’ll have a top class game for local soccer lovers to enjoy.
"We see this as really our second home. This will be our third game here, most of the players have played here multiple times now and have been based here during the regional festival. So we think everything is up against Wellington.
"We need the three points, we think it will put us back back into the top four and we'll be working pretty hard to achieve that."
Melbourne Heart currently sits at seventh on the ladder, after their 3-1 loss to Central Coast Mariners on the weekend.
To help with expenses for the Latrobe Valley game, the Member for Morwell Russell Northe has announced the state government is contributing $30,000.
"Over the next period of time it wouldn't surprise me to see added participation in soccer, and that's all we want really at the end of the day. We want more people, more active, more often."
